This Halloween I decided to revisit the Friday the 13th with the ultimate Jason, Kane Hodder. I co-hosted this episode with Josh Arnold.

Before I bring Jason back from the dead, I talk with my producer, Brad Shoemaker, about a new venture he is working on called the "Don't Flinch" podcast. Think of it like the old 30s and 40s radio horror dramas. Find out the multiple ways you can participate.

Don't Flinch is looking to raise funds to buy scripts, pay for voice talent, and some new equipment for sound design work. Their first episode is online now. We would love it if you had a few dollars you wanted to throw at this project to help Independent artists get their stories told.

If you're the creative type and think you can write a good script, you can submit your script on the Don't Flinch website.

Now back to Kane, the ultimate Jason Voorhees.

I am quick to admit I have never seen a Friday the 13th movie. However, that didn’t stop me from sitting down with the man, who many feel is the best actor to ever portray Jason Voorhees, Kane Hodder. For this episode I brought along my cohort and horror movie expert Josh Arnold to share his expertise.

Kane’s story is compelling, from a childhood where his teen years were spent on the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific. Then becoming a stuntman in Hollywood and working on shows like Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk, Dukes of Hazard and too many movies to list. (Safe to say if a movie had action in it, Kane was one of the stuntmen.)

Early in his stunt career he suffered a major burn injury over 50% of his body which had an incredible impact on his life. He now does work with burn centers across the country to help others. And of course, his path would eventually lead to acting. Fans don’t worry we do talk horror and movies and his run in the successful Friday the 13th Series. (This is where I start getting scared….)
He also touches on other famous “killers” he has played. And recently Kane was asked to reprise his role as Jason for the Friday the 13 video game. It’s a fascinating process to do motion capture for a game. And lets not forget he is also a part of a paranormal group called The Hollywood Ghost Hunters. Does he really believe in ghosts? We not only find out the answer to that question but also to what scares him. And learn about his latest film, a horror comedy, called “An Accidental Zombie (Named Ted)”. The premise of which is quite funny if not a bit unsettling for a horror novice like me.

I started out scared of Jason and ended up in awe of Kane! Enjoy!

Let’s face it cancer SUCKS! In one way or another we have all been effected by this horrible disease. My guest this week has lived through some of the scariest words ever uttered: “you have cancer”. Vince Todd was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease (a blood cancer) at the tender age of 26. He shares with us what it was like to hear his diagnosis and enduring the 7 months of chemotherapy that followed. Halfway through the treatment he was gifted Lance Armstrong's book and became inspired to help others like Lance did with his LIVESTRONG foundation. So, he and his wife Cindy threw a party hoping to raise 10,000 dollars. They called on family and friends and brought in close to 45,000 dollars that first year! The Heroes Foundation was born and now they annual “beer kegger” has turned into a 700+ gala and 4 other annual events. This years “An Evening With Heroes” will be held on January 20th 2018 at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The special guest speakers is Samantha Smith, widow of Butler basketball standout Andrew Smith who lost his battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in early 2016. Money raised will help in three areas, Research, Prevention and Support. So dress up, get a babysitter and make it a weekend getaway to help others. Vince is a 17 year survivor and proving that cancer doesn't always win. In fact sometimes it is the reason to throw a really awesome party.

Dave Dugan, probably best known as the voice Bart McAlister as well as many other characters from the Bob & Tom Show over the years, joins us in the studio.

We talk how he began his radio career, what led him to LA for comedy and voiceover work, his entrance to the Bob & Tom Show, a couple of funny stories from some Bob & Tom trips and also his latest comedy tour "Dugan's Aren't Losers".

We hope you enjoy the show.

Update: New intro and close, as the Comedy Club Dave was going to headline this week (October 27 - 29) is closed. Crackers Comedy in Broad Ripple has been shut down... New intro and close have been added to the podcast to reflect this change

I don’t know about you but I have been in a bit of a funk lately. When that happens I call on Dr. Will Miller! Sit in on my “free” session. We discuss the horrible tragedies that have been occurring nationwide. How do we cope with “bad news” that is forced upon us from every angle? His answer, relationships. We can not hope to be anxiety free without the help of friends and family. And in some cases your friends are your family. Never take that for granted and surround yourself with your “village”. Set down your devices and spend some quality time with the ones you love. It can work wonders to relieve anxiety and the feeling of isolation. We also dip into talking about death. Not a ha ha subject but one that all of us will face. I have a great deal of trouble dealing with this issue. Sound like you? Let Dr. Will help. We finish up with a wonderful metaphor for life using the PBS series Downton Abbey as a model. I felt so much better after our visit. I hope you do as well.

You may know him from The Late Show with David Letterman where Bill Scheft served as a writer for 24 years. However, there is much more to this brilliant former stand up comedian. I spoke with Bill recently via Skype from his home in NYC and we had a lot to catch up on. Since his last visit on The Bob and Tom Show Bill had lost his job following Letterman’s retirement. An even bigger blow was dealt when his wife, a pioneering figure amongst female comics, Adrianne Tolsch died after a long illness. We start the show talking about these two important topics. And not without a few laughs even when the subject is far from funny. Dealing with grief is such an individual process and Bill is gracious enough to share how he is coping. I can give you a hint. He is blessed with a wonderful support group including friends and family. Oh and the 29 yr old niece who now shares his apartment complete with a pet bunny named Albert. (yes there is a story there)

The novelist, Bill Scheft announces his latest project: “Is It Everything I Said”, Tommy Dash Apologizes. A collection of installments featuring a fictionalized stand up comic named Tommy Dash. Stories based on real situations either he or other comedians have encountered in their careers. Then we discuss music. His band The Truants performs in and around NYC playing British Invasion music and nothing after 1967. They DO NOT play “Do the Freddy” by Freddy and the Dreamers. (Take that Tom Griswold!) And they are available for your private party! Find out more at thetruantslive.com. Bill shares a great Paul McCartney story and touring with the band Tower of Power. Bill is now working on 2 projects for satellite radio including a podcast interviewing comics about relationships. I have been blessed in my life to meet amazingly talented people and Bill Scheft is at the top of the list. Enjoy!
